1. Abortion is Murder
Human beings are made in the image of God, set apart and unique from all other creatures. (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 9:6, 1 Corinthians 11:7, James 3:9, Psalm 8:3-8). The child in the womb is as real and as valuable of a person as an adult. (Genesis 25:22, Psalm 139:13-16, Luke 1:15, Luke 1:41) Therefore, to unjustly take the life of an image bearer of God is murder.
2. Abortion is an Issue of National Sin
The Bible says that those who hate me love death (Proverbs 8:36), and that God hates the hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:16-19). Abortion is the sacrifice of children in the womb as a result of the sinfulness of the human heart. (Lev 18:21; 20:2, 3, 4, 5; 1 Kgs 11:7; 2 Kgs 23:10; Jer 32:35). The only remedy for this scourge on the nation is repentance within the church (1 Peter 4:17-18) and within the country (2 Chronicles 7:14, 19-22, Ezekiel 14:6).
3. Our Message is About the Gospel
Abortion is a not merely a political issue, it is a moral issue that is irrevocably tied to the violation of God’s Holy Law (Exodus 20:13). This law testifies to the conscience of the sinner that they have offended the God they already know exists (Romans 1:18-20). Therefore, the message is to repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and peace with God. (Matthew 4:17, Luke 24:45-47, Acts 2:38, 17:30, 20:21, Romans 3:23-25, Romans 5:1).
4. We Want to Help Mothers and Fathers Considering Abortion
It is the concern of God’s people to see to the responsibility and care of the unborn, the voiceless, and “the least of these” (Proverbs 24:10-12, Proverbs 31:8-9, Matthew 25:34-40, Acts 4:34-35). We will provide them with anything they need including adoption, care of their physical needs, and help with locating pregnancy services.
5. We Work Towards Criminalizing Abortion in our Nation
The standard of justice that God demands for the life of an image bearer is the same regardless of their size, level of development, environment, or degree of dependence. The sanctions of God’s law are clear (Exodus 21:22-25). It is the responsibility of government and judicial magistrates to see that justice is carried out in accordance with the prescribed statutes of God’s law (Romans 13:3-5).
