Whereas the 1973 Roe versus Wade Supreme Court decision has provided for the murder of unborn children via abortion, and
Whereas said legalization of abortion has since facilitated the death of over 63 million pre-born children in America, and
Whereas both medical and scientific advances over several decades have provided us with a greater understanding of pregnancy and the stages of a fetus, making it clear that the act of abortion ends the life of a living human being,
Whereas the taking of a life (murder) is illegal in the state of Louisiana,
Whereas several states have historically chosen to defy the federal government when lawmaking. Examples include, but are not limited to, ending segregation, providing for the protection and freedom of slaves, and allowing the legalization of marijuana.
Therefore, be it resolved that we, the undersigned, urge the State Legislature of Louisiana to uphold legislation which protects the lives of unborn children, up to and including the defiance of Roe v. Wade. It is our desire to ensure the legal protection of all lives, including those in the womb.
